    One month in

Last week I received a quasi-promotion to General Manager for the product I’m helping to build. From the CEO’s all-staff:

As we get into the home stretch of launching <<product>> …  I wanted to sketch out how we’re going to operate this crucial new part of the business.

Beginning today, ANP will take on a new role as the general manager of this initiative…  ANP will have lead responsibility for <<product>> hitting its ultimate revenue … goals, coordinating our great cross-departmental team that consists of talented folks from community, technology, editorial, design, sales and marketing. In her short time here, she’s impressed everyone with her tremendous energy, intelligence, efficiency and good spirit.

Anyone who worked with me straight out of college might think to themselves, “HUH?“  Yeah, okay, so maybe yelling at clients, yelling at the head of sales, or general yelling isn’t exactly Good Spirit 101.

But that’s what therapy’s for.  Duh.  I’m all cured now!

Plus, Rysa Ferdon dropped some crazy nice project management 101 skills onto my plate while I was a sprite working at SNAPS.  I am forever indebted to her for the time she took to teach me this.  I’m not sure she knows what a difference this has made for my career, but maybe if the person that just Googled her name and found this post can let her know …

    1. Ari Says:

Congrats — but by promoting a product about religion you realize you are denigrating the human race and perpetuating dangerous anti-intellectualism.

    2. ANP Says:

      SPIRITUALITY, Ari.

Take a listen to Speaking of Faith on NPR if you ever get a chance. Krista Tippett has really great discussion about tensions between religion, spirituality, and faith.

I’m not going to solve the problem in this comment box, nor will I be able to assuage your fears, but don’t worry. That’s all I can say until the thing launches.

In the meantime, CLICK HERE NOW or ROAST IN HELL is a pretty strong call to action, n’est-ce pas? xoxo
