Wil Dalphin: Heh, thanks. I spotted this while blog searching my own journal for an old, unrelated entry. Jonesy: It is a tight race Alo! But I think our man, the good soldier, Johnny Mac will prevail. John Kerry had more... ANP: I actually agree with you on this. I don't want to publish pictures for public consumption of my future... Alecia: I'm not sure about the legalities re: pornography of the pics by Schneider, but I SERIOUSLY question her... alo: The site is obviously waiting for the candidates to select their all important VP choices before it goes out on...

Sale at Design Within Reach
So let’s say you find yourself on the mailing list of Design Within Reach because of a free subscription to Metropolitan Home circa 1999 when you were working for a company that found new subscribers on behalf of magazine publishers.
And let’s say that at the time, their definition of “within reach” didn’t quite mesh with yours. But you, being marginally* obsessive and in love with process flows, had a plastic velcro envelope for “things I’d like to buy someday but can’t justify and/or afford just yet”. So you stuck things into this folder from various sources, including the DWR catalog.
Over time, you started making your way through your wish list. Marvis ginger toothpaste. Augusten Burroughs’ ‘Dry’. The Cubitec shelving system.
And then, you spend this Thanksgiving at the stunning multi-million dollar brownstone of the beautiful buppie sister of your coworker Tanja, who has been known to spank your backside while at the office.

While there, you notice the bookcase you’ve had in your velcro envelope for quite some time. It is sturdier than you expected. The metal is smooth and warm to the touch.
And then, in the cold of February, you are alarmed to see a silberfisch darting out from underneath the curve of books that line your bedroom wall.
It is time, you think. A mite bit pricey for a bookcase. But you cannot have the Holy Bible that the Mormons gave you, or the copy of Camus’ Plague that you stole from your father’s book collection, or the Little House on the Prairie books that you gripped from someone’s trash in Brooklyn fester on your bedroom floor any longer.
And so you head to the DWR website. Try to become an affiliate but they deny you for using the word ‘cunt’ on your blog. Decide that’s okay because their online checkout is broken anyhow. And realize that when you first saved Sapien (oh, what a clever name for a bookcase! you think) in your “to buy” list, it was $198. But now, it’s $148.
And during the 10% off sale that they’re having through Monday, March 12th … $133.20.
Head to Design Within Reach to perusey-ruse.
Brooklynites can also check out an event at the local studio:
DWR’s Life Defined Design series continues with Jack Jeffries
In partnership with Time Out New York, we’re continuing out Life Defined Design series, which highlights local photographers who critically examine the world we live in. Join us the third Thursday in March for a reception for the work of Jack Jeffries. Jeffries’ work uses the interplay of light and object to reveal truths in the every day world. His photography will be on display at the Brooklyn Studio through April 16. Sixpoint Craft Ales and food will be served at the opening reception.
RSVP to brooklynheights@dwr.com by March 14.

I’ll be chasing iguanas while rockin’ SPF 45 and a hat with a chin strap in Aruba at the time, but might be interesting. Free food!

Thanks for the tip. I just ordered it, cunt-censorship notwithstanding.

What did you think of the toothpaste? I’ve been curious but haven’t bought it yet.

Great li’l package design, but I felt like my teeth were getting yellower and it didn’t quite have that bite I was looking for. But fun for “on occasion” I guess. However:
